Diving for Whitney 2012

12 February 2012

So today I went Great White Shark Cage Diving. Casual Sunday…no big deal.
The instructors gave us a tutorial of what to do. Basically it went like this:

“Alright, you’re going to put on your wetsuit, booties, and goggles. Then you’ll get in the cage. You’re not going to be able to see when a shark is approaching, so we’ll tell you from the boat. Then when we say, take a deep breath and dive down to see them. Oh, and don’t stick your fingers or limbs out of the cage.”

This is the cage we were in - it is long but narrow, enough for 7 people to fit in a line!

We ended up seeing 10 sharks! The biggest ones were 14 feet. One attacked the cage when I was in it! Then the instructor warned us halfway during our time in the cage, "DIVERS, don't put so much pressure on the bottom of the cage. It will get loose and come un-done." OOOOOOKay.
They were not shy at all...such playful little sharks!

This was by far the craziest thing I have EVER done, but we dedicated our dive to Whitney Houston, so that makes it okay right?!
